Our Story

Masjid al-Huda is a Salafi Masjid in the heart of Sheffield. Our goal is to invite people to the Salafi Da’wah, which is rooted in the Qur’ān and the Sunnah, preserved in its pure form without additions, deletions, or alterations, as understood and practiced by the first three generations of Muslims [the salaf].

Our call consists of the following principles and practices:

1. Tawheed (Islāmic Monotheism)

 • Emphasis on the oneness of Allāh in worship, Lordship, and His Names and Attributes.

 • Rejection of any form of shirk (associating partners with Allāh), including practices of excessive veneration of saints or intercession through intermediaries.

2. Adherence to the Qur’ān and Sunnah

 • A strong focus on following the Qur’ān and the authentic Sunnah (traditions and sayings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) as primary sources of guidance.

 • Reliance on the understanding of the Salaf al-Salih (the pious predecessors), which includes the first three generations of Muslims: the Sahabah (companions of the Prophet), Tabi’un (their successors), and Tabi’ al-Tabi’in (the successors of the successors).

3. Rejection of Innovations (Bid’ah)

 • Advocacy against any religious innovations or practices not established by the Prophet ﷺ and the Salaf.

 • Emphasis on practicing Islām in its pure and original form, as understood by the early Muslim generations.

4. Purity in Creed (’Aqidah)

 • Teaching the proper Islāmic creed based on clear textual evidence from the Qur’ān and Sunnah.

 • Clarification and rejection of theological deviations such as those associated with sects like the Ash’aris, Maturidis, or other groups not adhering to the Salafi understanding.

5. Islāmic Jurisprudence (Fiqh) Based on Evidence

 • Following Islāmic rulings based on direct evidence from the Qur’ān and Sunnah, without strict adherence to one particular madhhab (school of thought).

6. Moral and Ethical Reform

 • Encouraging individuals to purify their character, engage in good deeds, and uphold Islāmic values in personal and social life.

 • Promotion of modesty, honesty, and justice in accordance with Islāmic teachings.

7. Avoidance of Extremism

 • Rejection of both laxity in religious obligations and extremism, adhering to what is considered the middle path (wasatiyyah) of Islām.

8. Education and Da’wah (Invitation to Islām)

 • Providing education about Islām in light of the Qur’ān and Sunnah, aiming to correct misconceptions and spread the message of Islām locally and globally.

 • Emphasis on learning Arabic to better understand the Qur’ān and Hadith in their original language.

9. Connecting the Muslims to the major scholars and their students

 • Scholars are the inheritors of the prophets and as such ensure Islāmic beliefs and practices are understood correctly, based on the Qur’ān and Sunnah as interpreted by the Salaf, while avoiding misguidance and innovations, by the Will of Allāh.

• We emphasis on connecting with the scholars to provide us with clarity on complex issues, maintain unity through consistent teachings, and link us to the methodology, ideology and tradition of the early generations.

10. Brotherhood and Unity Upon Truth

 • Encouraging unity among Muslims based on the correct understanding of Islām.

 • Opposing sectarianism and partisanship and drawing clear boundaries with those who deviate or innovate alien religious beliefs or practices into the religion.

We strive to maintain an environment where these principles are upheld in worship, learning, and community activities. May Allāh aid us in our endeavour and accept it from us.
